About us
Let Us Tell You Our History

Welcome to Harvest Haven , We are a small-scale farm located in South Hollands that offers honest products from our own cattle and other small-scale companies in the area.
Our mission is to bring people into contact with farm animals and to educate them about where our food comes from.
Our vision is to farm as much as possible in the cycle of nature. We believe that if the soil, the air, and the animals are healthy, they will provide us with the best products. That’s why we keep our animals organic and even go a step further under our own label: Natural Farmers. We also strive to connect the countryside with the city by giving people the opportunity to see and learn about where their food comes from while enjoying the beautiful polder landscape and its history.
We have been certified organic since 2000, and our farming practices are designed to adapt the environment to the animals and not the other way around, as often seen in mass industry. We also strive to farm even better in the cycle of nature and ensure healthy soil life, which forms the basis of the food for our animals, from which our food in turn originates.
Our grassland management is designed to provide the most nutrition for our cattle, and we graze our cows in long grass, moving them four times a day to ensure extra vitamins in the milk and healthy soil life. We also use nutrient-rich grass for many months of the year and hay and grass silage in winter, which is harvested from our organic land.
We use minimal antibiotics, and our milk and dairy products are free of antibiotics. Our cows are mostly blaarkops, an old Dutch breed that provides good milk and delicious meat later in life. They are a dual-purpose cattle breed that fulfills several functions in life and is better for CO2 emissions. We also have a family herd where most of our dairy cows give birth around mid-April, and the calves grow up with us to become dairy cows and stay in the herd for the first three months, suckling with their mother.
Our cows have enough space to keep their horns, and our pigs also have their tails. We believe in natural coverage, and fertilization happens naturally through the bull for cows, goat for goats, and boar for sows. We take pride in our piece of history, where Hein and Mien van Rijn bought the farm on the Geerweg in 1948 and started with 11 cows, 2 sows, 10 chickens, and 1 goat. Their eldest son Wim and his wife Ada took over the farm in 1982, and they renamed it Groningen. After a long hold of the land, they decided to rent it to the LOE, partners involved in the new rise of Groningen. Finally, they changed the name to Ample Farm Links because of the connection line of business.
Our farm is accessible to everyone, and we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to come and experience farm life with us. Thank you for choosing Harvest Haven Farms
